The Song of the Stones
As the stones rested in the water and the watermill gently turned, a beautiful melody echoed through the forest. Pirrewitje and Vosje Vlinster listened closely to the enchanting tune the watermill was playing. It seemed as if the stones were telling a story.
The song began softly, like the babbling water:
“Pling-plong, pling-plong,
The water flows all day long.
It carries light from the shining sun,
And sings of where it all begun.”
Next came a brighter sound, like the air:
“Whoosh-whooo, whoosh-whooo,
The air dances high and true.
It lifts the leaves with gentle cheer,
And whispers softly, ‘I am here!’”
Then a deeper tone joined in, like the earth’s voice:
“Bom-bom, bom-bom,
The earth is steady, safe, and calm.
It gives us trees and blooming flowers,
And holds us close through all the hours.”
Finally, the wind added its sparkling tune:
“Fieeew, fieeew,
The wind plays softly through the trees.
It tickles branches, fine and thin,
And carries songs of stone and wind.”
Pirrewitje smiled at Vosje. “The stones are singing about nature, about everything that makes our forest so beautiful,” he said softly.
“It’s a song of light, air, earth, and water,” whispered Vosje with wide eyes.
They sat quietly by the babbling brook, listening to the song of the stones as the sun set and the forest was bathed in a warm golden glow.
The musical stones sing their song of water, light, air, and earth, while Pirrewitje and Vosje Vlinster sit by the stream, enchanted by the melody.
