The marbels

It was a sunny day in the gnome forest, and Pirrewitje and his friends decided to play an exciting game of marbles. They dug a small pit in the soft ground, just big enough for their marbles. “The first to get three marbles into the pit wins!” Pirrewitje called out cheerfully.

His best friend, little gnome Roef, had shiny marbles with him. “Watch out, I’m going to win!” he laughed. But Pirrewitje was determined to win too. And another gnome joined them: Toffel. He was always very careful, but today he seemed a little dreamy.

The marbles were divided, and the game began! Roef took the first turn and aimed his marble… whoosh! It came close to the pit but rolled just past it. Pirrewitje laughed and said, “Now it’s my turn!” He rolled his marble and… plop! it landed right in the pit! “Yes!” Pirrewitje cheered, “That’s one!”

Next, it was Toffel’s turn. He focused really hard, squinted his eyes, and… shoot! Oops! He accidentally hit Roef’s marble and knocked it far away! “Oh no, that wasn’t the plan!” Toffel said, surprised. Roef started laughing. “You knocked my marble away, Toffel! Now I’ve got another chance!”

Toffel blushed a little. “That was by accident, but it makes the game extra exciting!” he said with a smile.

The next round began. Roef shot his second marble, and this time… plop!it landed right in the pit. “Now I’ve got one too!” he called out excitedly. The game was getting closer, as both Pirrewitje and Roef had a marble in the pit.

Pirrewitje decided to take a bold move. He aimed at Toffel’s marble, which was close to the pit. If he knocked it away, Toffel would be way behind. With a focused look, he shot his marble… clink! He hit Toffel’s marble and sent it flying! “Oops! Sorry, Toffel!” Pirrewitje said, but he couldn’t help but smile.

Toffel laughed and said, “No problem, I’ll catch up later!”

The final round arrived. It was tied between Roef and Pirrewitje, each with one marble in the pit. Pirrewitje still had his last marble to shoot. He aimed carefully and… shoot! His marble rolled slowly… closer to the pit… and… plop! It dropped in! “I won!” Pirrewitje cheered joyfully.

But instead of being disappointed, Roef and Toffel laughed along. “That was a really exciting game!” Roef said. And Toffel added, “Next time, I’ll pay better attention to my own marbles.”
