Pirrewit and the Hail

On a cold autumn day, Pirrewit woke up to a strange sound. “Tap, tap, tap… clack!” came the noise from above his head. He peeked through the little window of his tree house and saw something unusual: it was hailing! Tiny icy pellets were falling from the sky, covering the entire gnome forest with a layer of glistening white dots.

Pirrewit put on his thick hat and warm jacket and carefully stepped outside. The ground was slippery from the hail, and he had to be cautious not to slip. As he looked around, he spotted his friend, Flop the bunny, desperately digging at the entrance to his burrow. The entrance was completely blocked by hail, and the poor bunny couldn’t get inside.

Oh no, Flop! Can’t you get home?” Pirrewit asked, concerned.

Flop nodded. “It’s so slippery and cold, and my burrow is all blocked! I can’t get the hail out.

Pirrewit didn’t hesitate. “Don’t worry, Flop. Together, we can fix this!” He pulled a small shovel from his pocket and started gently scooping away the hail, little by little. Flop helped by pushing aside the small pieces with his paws.

After a while, the entrance to Flop’s burrow was clear again. “Thank you, Pirrewit!” Flop said joyfully. “Now I can go back inside where it’s warm!

Pirrewit gave a big smile. “You’re very welcome, friend! It’s always nice to help.” He brushed the last bits of hail off his jacket and waved as Flop hopped safely back into his burrow.

As Pirrewit walked back to his own home, he enjoyed the way the hail sparkled like tiny pearls on the leaves and grass. At home, he snuggled into his warm chair and sipped a cup of berry tea. It had been another special day in the gnome forest, even with the hail!
