Pirrewit and the Fallen Leaves
On a lovely autumn day, Pirrewit looked out of his cozy little tree house and saw that the ground was covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves. Red, yellow, brown, and orange — the colors were beautiful, but they covered the entire path to his home. It was a cheerful mess, but also a bit cluttered.
Pirrewit decided it was time to tidy up the path again. He grabbed his little broom and put on his hat and scarf. As he stepped outside, he felt the crisp autumn breeze on his cheeks and heard the soft rustling of the leaves around him.
Just as he started sweeping, his friend, Nootje the squirrel, came by with an acorn in his mouth. “What are you doing, Pirrewit?” Nootje asked curiously.
“I’m cleaning up the path,” Pirrewit said with a smile. “The leaves are lovely, but I need to keep the path to my home clear.”
“Oh, that sounds fun! Can I help?” Nootje squeaked enthusiastically.
Together, they started stacking the leaves neatly. Pirrewit swept the leaves into little piles, while Nootje carried them to the edge of the path and arranged them. They had a great time, occasionally tossing handfuls of leaves into the air and watching them float down like colorful snowflakes.
After a while, the path was completely clear. “Thank you, Nootje!” Pirrewit said happily. “With your help, it went so much faster.”
Nootje nodded proudly. “You’re welcome, Pirrewit! The autumn leaves are beautiful, but sometimes it’s nice to have a bit of order.”
Pirrewit and Nootje looked at the neat little piles of leaves they had made. Then they each went their own way, pleased with their work. It had been another wonderful autumn day in the gnome forest, filled with friendship and the magic of nature.
