Lina and the Deer of Saint Hubertus
🦌🌲 Pirrewitje, Lina and the Deer of Saint Hubertus 🌲🦌
On a crisp autumn morning, when the leaves turned red and orange and mushrooms peeked through the moss, the little forest gnome Pirrewitje stepped cheerfully out of his treehouse. His red pointy hat bounced as he hummed a little tune:
🎶 “Pirrewit wit wit, gnome of the wood,
With a smile on my face, I spread good!” 🎶
Today, he went for a walk in the deep woods to look for acorns for the squirrels. But suddenly, he heard soft hooves on the fallen leaves…
Tip-tap… tip-tap…
Pirrewitje turned around, and there stood a beautiful brown deer with gentle eyes and a kind smile.
“Hello, little gnome,” said the deer softly. “My name is Lina, and I want to tell you a story… about my faraway ancestor: the Deer of Saint Hubertus.”
Pirrewitje put down his basket and sat on a tree root. “Ooooh! A story! I’m listening with my gnome ears!” he said excitedly.
🌟 The Story of the Deer of Saint Hubertus 🌟
“Long ago,” Lina began, “there was a man who liked to hunt in the forest. His name was Hubertus. One day, he saw a deer — strong and tall like a tree. But this was no ordinary deer… because between its antlers shone a bright glowing cross.”
Pirrewitje’s eyes grew wide. “A light? Between its antlers?”
Lina nodded. “Yes! That light reminded Hubertus that all animals are full of life and love. He learned to take care of the forest and its creatures, instead of hunting for fun. From that day, Hubertus became a kind and wise man.”
Pirrewitje jumped up. “What a beautiful story! That deer was really special — just like you, Lina!”
Lina blushed a little. “Thank you. And you know what? Some say that on November 3rd, if you’re really quiet in the forest… you might still see the Deer of Hubertus.”
Pirrewitje looked around and whispered, “Could the deer be here today?”
But Lina smiled mysteriously and said no more.
Pirrewitje waved goodbye and called,
“Bye Lina! And bye, Deer of Hubertus — wherever you are!”
🌲✨ And so Pirrewitje walked back to his little treehouse, his heart full of warmth and his head full of light. ✨🌲
