A friend of old

Once upon a time, there was a little gnome named Pirrewitje, who lived in a beautiful hollow tree. One sunny summer day, Pirrewitje was visited by an old friend, a friendly squirrel named Ritsel. Ritsel and Pirrewitje had known each other since their school days and were very happy to see each other again.

“Pirrewitje! How wonderful to see you again,” Ritsel called out joyfully as he jumped inside. “I have so many stories to tell!“

“Oh, Ritsel! What a surprise!” Pirrewitje replied happily. “Come in, let’s have some hazelnut tea and reminisce.”

They sat together at the wooden table, and Pirrewitje poured the tea. As they sipped their tea, they began to talk about the good old days.

“Do you remember when we went to gnome school together?” Ritsel asked with a smile. “I still remember the day we climbed a tree together to watch the birds.”

“Yes, that was such a fun day,” laughed Pirrewitje. “And how we accidentally fell into the mud and came home all dirty. Our mothers laughed so much!“

They also talked about their old neighborhood. “The old neighborhood was always so lively,” Ritsel said. “Everyone knew each other, and we always played together after school.”

“I remember how we picked flowers in Grandma Bertha’s garden,” said Pirrewitje. “She always told us the most beautiful stories about the flowers and the bees.“

Ritsel nodded in agreement. “And do you remember how we gathered in the evenings to tell stories under the stars? That was always so magical.”

Pirrewitje smiled. “Yes, I will always cherish those memories. It was a wonderful time, and I’m so glad we shared it together.”

They kept talking and laughing for a long time, and the afternoon flew by. When it was time for Ritsel to leave, they promised each other to meet again soon and share more stories.

“Pirrewitje, this was so much fun,” Ritsel said as he said goodbye. “See you soon!“

“See you soon, Ritsel,” Pirrewitje replied. “I look forward to seeing you again!“

And so Ritsel went on his way, and Pirrewitje waved him off cheerfully. He felt happy and grateful for the friendship he shared with Ritsel.
