Puffle the Puffy Hedgehog

On a sunny morning, Pirrewit Wit Wit sat in his cozy treehouse, listening to the gentle chirping of the birds. Suddenly, he heard rustling from the bushes. Standing at his door was Puffle, a little hedgehog puffed up as big as a prickly balloon. His quills stood on end, and his cheeks were red with frustration.

“What’s wrong, Puffle?” Pirrewitje asked kindly.

“Ohhh, everything is going wrong today!” squeaked Puffle. “I tripped over a stick, then my acorn fell into a puddle, and now my snout just won’t work to find new acorns. I’m so angry!”

Puffle puffed himself up even more until he looked ready to burst.

Pirrewitje smiled gently. “I understand how you feel, Puffle. But if you keep puffing up, your little nerves will wear out. Shall I help you relax a bit?”

Puffle nodded slowly, his quills beginning to settle down.

Pirrewitje’s Helpful Tips

Pirrewitje sat down next to Puffle and said, “Listen closely, Puffle. When you feel upset or nervous, try these things:”

1. Breathe like the forest wind: “Close your eyes, breathe in deeply through your nose, and blow out gently through your mouth, like the soft wind rustling through the leaves.”
   Puffle tried it and felt a little calmer right away.
2. Think of happy places: “Imagine a place that makes you happy, like your cozy nest or the juicy berries you love so much.”
   “Mmm… berries,” Puffle murmured dreamily. His quills relaxed even more.
3. Do a wiggle-dance: “Stand up and shake your body loose! Just like the leaves on a tree when the wind blows.”
   Puffle wiggled and danced, and soon he couldn’t stop giggling.

Puffle Learns to Relax

When Puffle was feeling like himself again, he said, “Thank you, Pirrewitje! I feel so much better now. I’ll use these tips whenever I start puffing up again.”

Pirrewitje clapped his little hands. “That’s wonderful, Puffle! And remember, everyone feels tense sometimes. It’s okay, as long as you know how to help yourself.”

With a cheerful wave, Puffle went on his way, ready to enjoy his day.
