Pirrewitje and the woodpecker
On a bright, sunny spring day, Pirrewitje, the little gnome, was awakened by the tapping and pecking of a woodpecker. The sound was coming from the large old oak tree, right next to Pirrewitje’s hollowed-out tree house. Pirrewitje rubbed his eyes, straightened his green pointed hat, and climbed outside to listen better.
“Tap, tap, tap,” it sounded rhythmically and cheerfully. The woodpecker was hard at work, searching for tasty insects under the bark of the old oak. Pirrewitje watched fascinated as the woodpecker, with his red and white feathers and sharp beak, flew from tree to tree, making a song with each tap and peck.
Inspired by the cheerful tapping, Pirrewitje decided to make music himself. He gathered his friends in the forest: Florelle the butterfly, Brommie the bear, and Zippy the squirrel. Each of them found something in nature to play on. Florelle buzzed along flowers, Brommie drummed on a hollow tree trunk, Zippy rustled with the leaves, and Pirrewitje? He gently tapped on a pine cone with a small stick.
Together, they formed a wonderful forest concert, inspired by the season’s first woodpecker. Animals from near and far came to listen to the harmonious sound echoing through the forest. It was an enchanting day filled with music and friendship, and Pirrewitje felt happy and grateful for such marvelous friends and moments.
As the sun slowly set and the last notes of the concert faded away, Pirrewitje looked at his friends and said, “What a beautiful day, friends! Thanks to the woodpecker, we’ve created something magical together. Let’s never forget this moment.“
