Pirrewitje and the Saint Hubert Roll

Pirrewitje and the Saint Hubert Roll

🧁🌿 Pirrewitje and the Saint Hubert Roll 🌿🧁

On a chilly November morning, while the dew still sparkled on the leaves, little gnome Pirrewitje woke up with a tasty idea.

“Today is Saint Hubert’s Day,” he said as he jumped out of bed. “I’m going to bake a hubke!”

hubke is a small, round bread roll, baked for luck and health on the day of Saint Hubert. And Pirrewitje knew: happiness is best when it’s shared!

He straightened his red hat, polished his little shoes, and skipped to the kitchen inside his cozy tree trunk.
“I’ll bake a hubke for all my forest friends!” he said cheerfully.

🥣 In his tiny kitchen, Pirrewitje gathered:

  • A cup of warm milk 🥛
  • A bit of butter 🧈
  • A spoon of sugar 🍬
  • A pinch of salt 🧂
  • A handful of flour 🌾
  • And a little yeast 🧫

“Stir it, knead it, roll it round,” Pirrewitje sang while making the dough.
Then he covered it with a cloth and whispered, “Shhh… now it has to grow — just like acorns grow into trees!”

While the dough rested, Pirrewitje took a walk and told all the animals about his special hubke. Squirrel Kwiekje, Owl Olga, and even Lina the deer came to listen.

When he came back, the dough had risen nicely. “Time to bake!” he said.

The smell that filled the treehouse was so warm and yummy that even the bunnies followed their noses all the way to his door.

And when the roll was ready, Pirrewitje sliced it into little pieces. Everyone got a bite, and with each one, he shared a kind wish:

🌟 “A bite of health for you.”
🌟 “A bite of happiness for you.”
🌟 “And a bite of friendship for you!”

That day, the forest was filled with the scent of bread, the warmth of sharing, and lots and lots of smiles.
