Pirrewitje and His Friends Go Blackberry Picking
On a beautiful autumn morning, just as the sun peeked over the treetops, Pirrewitje decided it was the perfect day to pick blackberries. The berries were dark purple and glistened in the sunlight. He grabbed his little basket and called his friends: Squirrel Snuitje, Bird Tjiep, and Rabbit Pluisje.
Pirrewitje said, “Let’s go to the forest! The blackberries are ripe and ready to be picked!” His friends nodded excitedly. Together, they hopped through the forest, singing songs and looking forward to the delicious blackberries.
Along the way, they saw many other forest creatures. A ladybug waved hello, and a hedgehog curled up for a moment as they passed by. But when he realized it was Pirrewitje and his friends, he continued on his way.
When they arrived at the blackberry bushes, they saw that the branches were full of the juiciest berries you could imagine. Pirrewitje pointed to a branch full of berries and said, “Let’s pick these! But don’t forget, we’ll leave some berries for the birds and other animals in the forest.”
Carefully, they began picking the berries. Squirrel Snuitje was so enthusiastic that he accidentally dropped a berry, and it rolled right into the mouth of a curious little mouse. Everyone laughed, and the mouse thanked Snuitje for the tasty treat.
They filled their basket with the sweet berries, and when it was almost full, Pirrewitje decided it was time to head back. But before they left, Tjiep made up a song about blackberries and how delicious they are. Everyone sang along happily.
Back at the big hollow tree, they made some delicious blackberry jam. They spread it on bread and shared it with all their friends in the forest. “This is the tastiest bread I’ve ever had!” said Pluisje with a smile.
Pirrewitje beamed with happiness. He knew that picking blackberries and sharing with friends made the day even more special.
