The Little Lost Sheep Who Found the Way
On a rolling hillside bathed in golden sunlight, there lived a little sheep named Pebble. Pebble wasn’t like the other sheep, who happily followed the flock all day. No, Pebble was curious, adventurous, and had an uncanny knack for wandering off. One day, that knack got Pebble into a lot more trouble than expected.
The Story
It all started when Pebble noticed a butterfly with shimmering blue wings fluttering by. “I’ve never seen one like that before!” Pebble thought. Without hesitation, the little sheep bounded after it, weaving through the fields and into the shadowy forest.
But when Pebble finally stopped to catch a breath, the butterfly had vanished, and so had the familiar sounds of the flock. The forest seemed darker, taller, and very, very quiet.
Pebble tried to stay brave. “I’ll just find my way back!” But the paths twisted and turned, each looking more unfamiliar than the last. For the first time, Pebble felt truly small.
Just as Pebble’s little heart began to race, a deep, rumbling voice called out: “Lost, are you?”
Out from behind a mossy rock stepped a gruff but friendly hedgehog. He introduced himself as Thorn, the forest guide. “I’ve seen plenty of lost sheep before,” Thorn chuckled. “Come on, I’ll help you find your way back, if you promise not to eat the flowers on the way.”
Along their journey, Pebble met all kinds of forest creatures. A chatty squirrel pointed out landmarks, a sleepy owl hooted directions, and a family of rabbits provided a much-needed snack of fresh berries.
By the time Pebble emerged from the forest, the sky had turned a deep orange, and the sound of the flock calling out made Pebble’s heart leap. “Thank you!” Pebble bleated to Thorn, who tipped his prickly hat and disappeared back into the woods.
When Pebble rejoined the flock, there was a lesson in the air, one the little sheep wouldn’t forget anytime soon.

Sometimes, we need to lose sight of the familiar to discover the kindness of strangers and the courage within ourselves.
