The resting place
On a cold winter day, when Pirrewitje and his friends were walking through the forest, they came across a small bird that hadn’t survived the harsh winter cold. It was a sad sight, and they all felt compassion for the little creature.
Pirrewitje said softly, “Let’s give this little bird a loving final resting place.” Together, they found a beautiful spot under a large oak tree where the bird could peacefully rest. The squirrels carefully dug a small pit in the snow, while the rabbits gathered soft leaves and twigs to make a little bed. Pirrewitje gently picked up the bird and placed it in the pit. They covered the bird with leaves and spoke soft, kind words.
Once the bird was laid to rest, the animals suggested singing a song in honor of their little friend. Pirrewitje began to sing softly, a simple but beautiful song that celebrated the beauty and wonder of life. Slowly, the other animals joined in, their voices intertwining into a loving tribute.
As they sang, other birds from the forest came forward. They fluttered around the small resting place and listened to the song. Some of them sang softly along, a sign of connection and comfort.
When the song ended, Pirrewitje said, “We will always remember this little bird. Let’s take care of each other and share the warmth of our friendship, especially in these cold times.”
The animals nodded in agreement, touched by the event. They knew that, although life could sometimes bring sadness, they always had each other to lean on and find support.
