Pirrewit and the Beautiful White Swan

On a cold autumn morning, Pirrewit was walking along the edge of the gnome pond. The water was still and mirror-like, and the air was filled with a fresh, chilly mist. As he looked around, he noticed something special across the pond: a beautiful white swan! Her feathers shimmered in the morning light, and she moved gracefully over the water as if she were a queen.

Pirrewit stood in awe. He had heard that swans sometimes stop at their pond to rest while they’re on their way to warmer places for the winter. This was a rare encounter, and he wanted to get a closer look at the swan.

Slowly, he walked closer to the shore, careful not to startle her. The swan looked up but didn’t seem frightened. In fact, she looked at Pirrewit with a gentle gaze, as if she knew he was a friend.

“Welcome, beautiful swan,” Pirrewit whispered. “Are you on your way to a warmer place?”

The swan bowed her long neck and let out a soft trumpet-like sound in response. Pirrewit chuckled softly. He reached into his pocket and took out some crumbs and berries, carefully placing them on the shore. The swan glided closer and gently picked up the treats with her elegant beak.

They sat together in silence for a while. Pirrewit enjoyed the swan’s company, and the swan seemed to feel safe and welcome at the gnome pond. It was a magical moment, full of peace and connection.

After a while, the swan stood up and stretched her magnificent wings. Pirrewit knew it was time for her to continue her journey. “Safe travels, dear swan,” he said softly. “I wish you a safe journey to the south.”

The swan looked at Pirrewit one last time, nodded her graceful head, and flew up into the sky. Pirrewit watched as she disappeared into the horizon, her white wings shining in the sunlight.

And so, it was another special day in the gnome forest, with a beautiful visit from a royal swan on her way to warmer places.
