Pirrewitje the Chef Gnome’s Chestnut Spread Delight
On a beautiful autumn day, Pirrewitje decided to make something special in his cozy gnome kitchen. He wanted to create a delicious chestnut spread to enjoy on his bread! With the scent of freshly roasted chestnuts in the air, he got to work. Would you like to know the recipe? It’s simple and oh-so-tasty!
Pirrewitje’s Chestnut Spread Recipe
What you need:
- 200 grams of chestnuts (fresh or pre-cooked)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 50 ml of milk (plant-based milk works too)
- A pinch of cinnamon (if you like it)
- A small amount of butter (optional, for extra creaminess)
How to make it:
- Roast the chestnuts: If you have fresh chestnuts, cut a cross on the rounded side of each one. Roast them in the oven for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees, until the shells loosen and they smell delicious.
- Peel the chestnuts: Let the chestnuts cool slightly and then carefully peel them. Pirrewitje always says this is the most exciting part!
- Mash the chestnuts: Put the peeled chestnuts in a bowl and add the milk. Mash everything well with a fork, or use a hand blender if you have one.
- Sweeten and season: Add the honey and a pinch of cinnamon. If you’re using butter, add a small knob now for extra creaminess. Stir everything well.
- Spread and enjoy!: Pirrewitje loves to spread his chestnut puree thickly on a slice of bread. It’s also delicious on a warm roll or cracker.
And there you have it! A delightful, autumn-inspired chestnut spread that you can enjoy in many ways. Pirrewitje finds it so tasty, he almost forgets to share with the other gnomes!
