Soccer freaks

Today was a very special day in the forest where the gnome Pirrewit Wit Wit lives. It was the day of the big soccer tournament! All the forest creatures gathered in the clearing between the trees to participate and watch the exciting matches.

Pirrewitje had gotten up early to prepare the field. He hung up cheerful flags and laid out a nice ball. Soon his friends arrived one by one. There was Squirrel Flip, who could run very fast, and Bunny Pluis, who could jump high. Even Owl Wijs, who usually preferred to sit quietly reading, came to watch.

“Good morning everyone!” Pirrewitje called cheerfully. “Today we’re all playing a game of soccer. The most important thing is to have fun and help each other. Who wants to join?“

Everyone enthusiastically raised their hands. “I want to be on Pirrewitje’s team!” called Mouse Miep. “And I’ll play with Owl Wijs,” said Badger Dirk.

It was an exciting match. Flip ran so fast with the ball that no one could keep up, but Bunny Pluis jumped so high that she intercepted the ball every time. And although Owl Wijs wasn’t very fast, he was very good at planning and directing his team.

Pirrewitje ran around encouraging everyone. “Good job, Pluis! Great work, Flip! Beautiful pass, Miep!”

After a while, the score was tied: 2-2. One more goal was needed to determine the winner. Everyone was tense. Flip got the ball and ran forward. He passed Badger Dirk and kicked the ball hard towards the goal.

“It’s going to work!” everyone shouted.

But suddenly Bunny Pluis jumped up and with a great leap managed to block the ball. The ball bounced back to Pirrewitje, who gracefully kicked it into Owl Wijs’s goal.

“Goal!” they all cheered.

Pirrewitje laughed and helped everyone up. “What a great match! Everyone played so well. But the most important thing is that we had fun together.“

At the end of the day, everyone sat tired but satisfied in the grass, enjoying some delicious berries and honey. “This was the best day ever,” said Mouse Miep.

“Yes,” said Owl Wijs with a smile, “and we all learned something about teamwork and having fun.“
